Talented Recycled Orchestra…Instruments Made of Garbage? [DIY]

Hello ya’ll!!  WARNING: Grab a tissue before you watch this documentary, it will be very necessary!!  The teachers in my training left a few times over the course of the movie to dry the tears!!  Regardless of the so-called “summer break”, teachers like me do end up working over the summer.  We are required to get a certain number of days of workshops and extra training for the school year.

Yesterday’s workshop was so enlightening and powerful that I just had to share the Landfill Harmonic documentary with you.  After watching it, I was humbled and thankful for everything I have in life.  I sometimes selfishly worry about how little I have, and really, if you think about it, I am blessed beyond measure and have more than I will ever need!

It is amazing and magical how children who were willing to learn, a helpful teacher, and a creative carpenter were able to make something magical and beautiful out of nothing.  I came away impressed and humbled with the fact that even though you have nothing, doesn’t mean you can’t do anything.  Also, this blog and everything I have ever done seemed so insignificant compared to the work that this unselfish teacher does.  He is making such an impact and inspiring others like him, me included, to make that same impact.

Have you ever heard about the Recycled Orchestra??  What are your thoughts?? What impact did they make on your life??

If you haven’t heard of them, they are renowned for their world wide performances from instruments made from garbage.  You heard right, garbage!!  Having played violin for some professional orchestra gigs, I was curious of the sound produced by instruments crafted and scrounged from garbage.  Would they be up to the quality of their real counterparts?  Surprisingly, it is a beautiful sound, just a little more natural and vibrant and a deep toned resonance.

I highly recommend this documentary.  It gets a 5 star review from me!

I thought of a few things as I watched them:

  • There are truly magical moments to be found in this life, no matter where in this world.
  • Sometimes we have to make and create these magical moments.
  • Think outside of the box, you never know what may happen.
  • Help other people out of the goodness and kindness and love of your heart, not for any other reason.
  • You don’t need to “fix” everyone else’s life, but you can throw some sparkle on their’s!

Dont forget, leave a question on Q&A Announcement! to find out more about my adventurous Hub City life. Ask any question you like!

Many magical-making moments to you!!

    • Let me know what you think of them! There is a full 1 hr+ documentary that tells how this group from Paraguay came together. Not only are they such a professional musical group, but their story just tears at my heartstrings, motivating me to do more for others and think outside of the box in the way I live. Sometimes I just don’t need so much. I would love to know what you think and really appreciate your comment!!
