July 4th Party at the Ranch [Party]

Dear Readers, Thank you all for your comments, your kindness, and your love on HCG.  You are each amazing and I hope that you all had a very happy 4th this past week celebrating freedom for the human race!  My folks always have a big shindig–complete with food galore and our own 2 hour long firework show–over at my parents’ country ranch.  I thought I would share some pictures of that celebration with you.

The BarbQ grill, American flag, and fireworks….3 major pieces of Americana.  I handmade the  sleeveless T-shirt.

We always serve gallons and gallons of homemade sugar-free lemonade.  Today’s menu was Sloppy “Joshes” (also called Sloppy Joes) on top of fritos instead of traditional hamburger buns.  Some of my family battle celiac disease and have to remain gluten free, so my parents’ Ranch is a gluten free zone.  Fritos are a yummy substitute!

My dad is the watermelon boat genius. I think he’s pro extraordinaire at this.  Look at all of the delicious mounds of juicy fruit!

My mom’s b-day is July 4th.  She likes to tell people she was a “firecracker” baby!  So we always go all out with the meal .  Here is the line-up for Sloppy Joes on top of fritos.  My favorite part is all of the cheese to pile on top.   This is a great DIY for party guests.  It’s a lot like frito pie, which a guest could put together on their own.

This pitcher from Hobby Lobby is so perfect for all of that tarty, syrupy lemonade, a perfect “mocktail”!

This idea worked well for a grab-and-go frito buffet, and is quick and easy to make!  It would also function perfectly for a baby shower, bridal shower, lingerie shower, 50th birthday party, picnic, and you name it.  I found this candle holder at a garage sale, and I almost resold it in my garage sale this summer, but I just couldn’t part with it.  All I did was buy some cute paper from Hobby Lobby, cut it in half, and made cones out of it.

The big movie screen of the sky.  Just before the sun set, when we are out on the back patio  grilling kabobs and dancing two-step with my nieces, I snapped this picture.  We have such gorgeous sunsets out here close to Hub City, by the way.

Want a simple, easy way to glam up your patio?  Add a string of white lights.  They will brighten up your festivities every time!

Out in the country, especially around Hub City, everyone is shooting off the fireworks.  You can sit on the front porch and watch a firework show going off from every angle.  The best part is you can also shoot them off yourself as well!

Each member of the family brings a pile of fireworks of their choice, we group them together and shoot them off.  Our firework show was 2 hours long!!   We shot off rockets and fireworks of every shape and size.

So, in a nutshell, this is how this country lifestyle blogger celebrates the 4th of July.

What is your favorite part about the 4th of July and how do you celebrate??

Thank you to all who continue to post comments.   I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it is to open up HCG every morning and read a well-written thought from readers.   That is what makes HCG what it is—YOUR thoughtful comments!

Becoming His Tapestry writes about Talented Recycled Orchestra…Instruments Made of Garbage?, “I’ve never heard of them, but you’ve now piqued my interest. I will look it up.”

Thank you, Brenda!  I always enjoy your thoughtful comments, and reading your blog as well.  These talented musicians from Paraguay are so interesting, and the documentary is inspiring.  I appreciate your comment!

Eric Men comments about local travel, A Visit to Brookhollow [Travel], “Is this near Ransom Canyon? It took me a while to figure out where “hub city” was! Live in Texas myself and love to travel all over the state and hadn’t heard that name before.”‘

Thank you for commenting, Eric, and for joining our community here at HCG.  Yes, you guessed right.  If you are interested in local travel, this is a good place to go and relax.

    • Thank you so much! I should probably rephrase the word “handmade”…I found the sleeveless blue tee at a store and added the red and white star design to it with fabric glue and fabric glitter. Working on a post to show how in the future. I really appreciate your comment!!
