The Magic of Fall, My Fall Bucket List

Hello readers!  Fall is here, fall is here, how do you think I know?  My students always sing this little song about fall and the words have been stuck in my head a while now.  The other day the rain drizzled all morning long and the temperature dropped at least ten degrees.  I turned on my little fireplace and pulled out my secondhand acquired QVC Temptations soup bowls and plates.   I just LOVE fall.  Anyone else like me?

Time to make the house smell like pumpkin and spice and everything nice.  To me, fall is a blend of mystery and nutmeg and orange all wrapped into one.  I think of wine nail polish and lots of lusciously comfortable sweaters to snuggle in and keep warm.  Giant mugs filled with apple cider, flickering spiced pumpkin candles, and visions of an at-home spa day filled with all things comfy and warm dance in my head.   Oh, and there is the practical side to fall as well.  It’s that time to store the umbrella and ice scraper in the car and make sure the house is ready for the upcoming season of Jack Frost.

What do you plan to do this Fall?  Our goals may all be different, but I am sure we all have some idea of a bucket list (whether written down or in our heads) of what we plan to do.   Here is a list of 27 different goals for fall.  I am trying to keep them accomplish-able.  (Is that a word?)  Don’t forget, fall is a great time to get the family or some friends together for a potluck dinner and a night of games.  (Tell everyone to bring their coats and sweaters.)  Pull out horse shoes for the guys, throw some hamburgers on the grill, and serve them with steaming hot cups of apple cider and caramel covered apples.  The opportunities to make fall a time of bliss are endless!!

Feel free to pin this list all you want.  Then, when you find yourself staring at the TV or window, and feel the temperature dropping, reach for it and pick something to do.  You can only make yourself a little more “fall-happy”!!

Featured comments of the week:

Dear Readers, Thank you for always leaving your comments!!  Many of them were very meaty and thought-provoking this past week and  I have thought a lot about them.  I  do value each of you taking the time out of your day to leave a comment on this little blog!!  Thank you my friends!!

Tim Willow writes: “My positive word is ‘change’ I find lately I’ve been expressing how much I enjoy simple things, a meal, snack, great cup of coffee. As I express enjoyment I find I enjoy it more. Don’t want to do it too much as it may annoy others! All about balance 🙂”

frejatravels says:Thanks for empowering me. Great blog.”

Becoming His Tapestry comments about The Power of Positive Words: “It certainly is about balance, but I think more so, it depends on the audience and their needs. Some people are turned off immediately by negative words and especially the tone of the negative words can add additional weight, which can undo any progress, while others can flourish. It depends on what we are hoping to accomplish at the end too. it’s always remembering to temper words with grace

Eric Men writes:Great post as always! I work in a school, and one of our PD sessions talks about social-emotional learning and how even saying good morning to the kids we see in the hallway can change their outlook for the day. We all have the power to make a difference!”

Many happy days of fall to you!

I think it was the weather dropping 10 degrees, but today it’s right back up to 80 degree weather…that odd transition time in Texas where the nights are cold and the afternoons are stifling. I was reading a fellow blogger who was talking about pumpkin lattes….Yum!! Thanks for the lovely comment!

Great post! Fall is a beautiful time, like your bucket list idea though I think mine would be rather short in comparison, especially since it’s just my cat and I (and of course all my outdoor critters). Our cold weather transitioned very early this year and right now it is snowing heavily, which is early even for us in the far north! But still enjoying all the little wonders of fall from chipmunks to bears, and hot chocolate (now that I finally found some that is gluten free) and COFFEE! Look forward to reading more on your blog and thanks for following mine, I hope you will continue to enjoy it.

The snow melted but more is coming tonight. Normally our winter arrives the second week of November, but last year it came in October which is much too early. I know you followed my blog though it didn’t register on my end so I hope you get today’s post. Enjoy your weekend!

Hey Steve, I did follow, I hope it shows up. I know I have had some issues with followers showing up on HCG, something having to do with the email they follow by or something… anyway I went back and re-followed so hopefully you see me on there! Looking forward to your future posts! Have a blessed day! 🙂
